Lent 2016 : some suggestions to help you mark the season

Lent as a season in our church asks us to fast, pray and give alms.  Here are some suggestions from us at Catholic Bible School as to how you could do that.

Fasting and abstinence are the most commonly practised spiritual disciplines during Lent and we are sure you don’t need much help here.  But for the more creative types you might want to go on a Biblical food fast and eat only food stuff’s mentioned in the Bible.  Click here for the list.

If you are trying to work out how to pray during Lent then why not try the Lent Bible Reading plan available on the Bible Gateway website which takes you through the four Gospels a day at a time starting today on Ash Wednesday.  The sections are fairly short so if you miss a day it’s not too hard to catch up.

Alms Giving

We would like to encourage you to consider making a donation to the Catholic Bible School this Lent as a way of giving Alms.  You can post a cheque made payable to the Catholic Bible School to our address Catholic Bible School, Farm Lane, Nutbourne, Chichester, PO18 8SD or you make a direct transfer from your bank to ours, please use the reference Lent where possible.  Account Number: 00026672 Sort Code: 405240.  Or perhaps you would like to take out a regular standing order - here’s our form.
