How do different Christian Denominations Read the Bible: Scripture Saturday

iStock_000005606272XLarge.jpg

This day is designed as an ecumenical sharing of the ways some different Christian denominations approach the Bible.  It is intended as a sharing in love and not as a debate or competition but a day when we give and receive gifts of insight and understanding from each other.  Representatives from local churches will form a small panel of speakers giving talks and taking questions.  Discussion will be moderated by the panel's chairperson.

All of our Scripture Saturdays are free and there is no need to book just turn up.  If you are able to make a donation to cover costs then it will be gratefully received.

Films & Faith Scripture Saturday: The Shack

theshack.jpg

The best-selling novel 'The Shack' by Wm Paul Young was made into a film in 2017.  It tells the story of a man in crisis who has a dramatic encounter with God.  Like all books and films it has its devotees and its detractors but what it does offer is ample food for reflection on the nature of God and God's presence in a world seemingly full of struggles.

We will watch the film in the morning, have our packed lunches together and then spend the afternoon sharing together our reflections guided by the Scriptures and some time for prayer.

All our Scripture Saturdays are free and there is no need to book simply turn up on the day.  If you are able to make a donation to help cover our costs it would be gratefully received.
